Assurance of Faith

Jesus said in John 3 that we must be born again. What does born again mean? Spiritually regenerated and given a new nature. Our heart, our soul will be given a be nature. We cannot enter heaven without a new heart. 2 Corinthians 5:17 17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come! The old sinful life has passed away. The word behold is saying look at this jesus. He is the lamb of god who will die for us. New covenant is christ purchasing for us. Ezekiel 11:19 19 I will give them an undivided heart and put a new spirit in them; I will remove from them their heart of stone and give them a heart of flesh. We need to have a transformed heart not a transformed face. Ephesians 4:22-24 22 You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; 23 to be made new in the attitude of your minds; 24 and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness. Many beleive they can talk about Jesus but our life don't change. We have to see evidence of change and righteousness. Test 11. If I am born again you will practice righteousness. If our life is not walking in holiness we are not saved. 1 John 2:29 29 If you know that he is righteous, you know that everyone who does what is right has been born of him. What we say can be very different from what we are. 1 John 3:6-10 6 No-one who lives in him keeps on sinning. No-one who continues to sin has either seen him or known him. 7 Dear children, do not let anyone lead you astray. He who does what is right is righteous, just as he is righteous. 8 He who does what is sinful is of the devil, because the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the devil's work. 9 No-one who is born of God will continue to sin, because God's seed remains in him; he cannot go on sinning, because he has been born of God. 10 This is how we know who the children of God are and who the children of the devil are: Anyone who does not do what is right is not a child of God; nor is anyone who does not love his brother. Many people don't beieve in Christ though they come to church. They don't have a change of mind change of heart. John says don't be deceived. If someone practice righteousness he will be righteous. If we are born of God we will not make sin our lifestyle because God's seed is in us. John says we can know who is saved and who is not. We want to be a true Christian and a true follower of Christ. The passage is for us to know where we are in Christ. Whoever walks in righteousness is of God. Whoever does not practice righteousness is not of God.

Flee from sexual immorality. We know yat is right and wrong but the question is whether we are living in the right way. John says look at our life our thoughts. In church we should hold obedience to God and practice what he says. Everyone around us are pursuing something. What are we pursuing as a child of God? 1 John 5:18 18 We know that anyone born of God does not continue to sin; the one who was born of God keeps him safe, and the evil one cannot harm him. John 3:3 3 In reply Jesus declared, "I tell you the truth x 2, no-one can see the kingdom of God unless he is born again." Jesus tell Nichodimus to have be heart new soul new spirit else he cannot enter the kingdom of God.
